Think of this as a cake, just without the sprinkles. We will be teaching every skill in rugby including rucks, mauls, scrums, line-outs, etc. We will actually be teaching tackling basics, but all of these skills will be done in a controlled manner using safe means such as tackling bags.

This team is not just a few people chucking a ball around each week. Practices consist of planned-out skills, drills and fitness, just like other competitive clubs do. The goal is to get in shape and learn the sport in its entirety for fun, but to also provide options if some members feel confident to try a game of touch or full rugby.

The purpose of this group is to give people the opportunity to learn and play the sport without the contact that usually causes the most injury which is tackling.

The sport does require minimal contact for other aspects such as rucking, mauling, scrums and line outs.

These will all be taught and practice at a controlled pace. All players are asked to only participate in drills that they are comfortable doing.

Absolutely! It would be fantastic for anyone who has has experience or is interested in the sport to come out and support the team.

Nope, it's co-ed! Everyone who is 18 years or older is welcome to join.

It should be noted there are some aspects of the game that require players to be in close proximity. If this is a concern for you, please contact one of the coaches.

All players are required to pay an initial fee to assure that the rental costs of the field and equipment is covered. All money goes towards renting the field, and luckily for us, that's not a lot of money!

While there is no requirement for attending, players are encouraged to let the others know when they will not be in attendance so they can plan practices.

Players who have not payed their fees prior to the practice starting won't be able to take part.

There's no expectation that you put a lot of money into purchasing gear (kit). If you show up in whatever sports shoes and gym clothes you have, that's fine.

If you want to invest in gear that will provide you with more comfort and stability: The basic rugby uniform consists of cleated boots, heavy duty shorts, and a jersey.

Other items sometimes used by players are a mouthguard and long socks. You may also opt to purchase your own ball for use at practice.

We understand that it can sometimes difficult (especially in the summer) to find time to get away from the younglings.

While we are not going to (nor could we) forbid players from bringing their kids, we would highly recommend finding alternative arrangements.

We would like our players to be focused on what they're doing for safety. We also want the kids to remain safe and well clear of fast moving, large adults.

If there is enough players who are wanting to bring their kids, perhaps arrangements can be made to have them supervised by a non-player.

The main focus of the team right now is simply to have fun and get in shape while playing / learning the sport.

That being said, there may be opportunities during the year to have games of touch rugby between each other or other teams on the island, but that will depend on what everybody in the group is comfortable with!

We believe that this sport should be accessible to everyone and that no player should feel they can't participate due to financial constraints.
